Boss character kills me easily in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I love to play as a single handed melee character and now that I have reached level 12+ the boss characters in various quests are extremely hard and kill me in one or 2 hits unless I lower the difficulty (From Adept) in which case they kill me in 4 or 5 hits while retaining insane amounts of health. My armor defense is over 250 (Including the Shield) and have struggled to find a decent upgrade to single handed melee (Current one deals around 30 damage). Do you have any suggestion that how to improve my playing?

This is what the boss fight will do. I suggest making sure you save before, and have with plenty of potions stocked up. If you are a melee fighter then you are going to take damage, so be sure to use the right types of armor.

I would recommend better tactics or grind through it using potions. I often find that I am dieing a lot to bosses when I don't use special powers or shouts. Use em check your inventory and apply any poisons you have, suck down potions. Check the scrolls you have. Just don't expect to swing your sword a couple of times and win.

I am with leveling crafting out the wazoo. It is the dissimilarity between life and death. You should look at the block. At a low level, essentially all it does it cut your damage down to 1/4th what it should be. A low level shield gives you approximately 4-5% extra resistance to damage, and an extra possibly 20-35% resistances to damage while actively blocking. However, all that really matters at a low level is the ratio of damage enemies do/their lifespan. If you are shielding carefully and hitting from behind it, you will do about half the damage of if you were not shielding at all; if you dual wield, you end up getting double what you do if you don't shield, essentially meaning you have 1/4th the time to take damage. Doesn't this mean that a shield should counteract 75% of incoming damage?

If you want to play in this way, you need to get your armor to the point that you CAN tank the enemies at all, before you start worrying about even fighting them. Until you get your block/heavy armor/smithing high enough, you'll be a knight made of cardboard.

You are probably also playing a low difficulty. It’s put their for a reason, the crafting skills are probably overpowered as they can make you stupidly strong even on master difficulty.
