Any plan for Van Buren in Fallout: New Vegas - Lonesome Road
Somebody here stated that actually it was intended in Van Buren that at the end, nukes would launch and the just control your character got in "stopping them" was chosen where to send them, then wondered this could be what occurs in Lonesome Road. Is this true? Was this actually intended for Van Buren? Anyone have any idea about this?

I was wondering this myself to be honest then again, would be an interesting play style for role-players, especially for some of the Dark Hero characters some people have.

It’s in the design documents but much of the elements they utilized in new Vegas that can from Van Buren were radically distorted, the legion, the burned man, the elements that became vault 22 and a ton of other things so it’s quite possible the ending is far different especially since the whole plot of new Vegas has nothing to do with that of Van Buren.

The original design documents, if I remember correctly, your character goes into an escape pod that launches into space as you choose two places in the world to get nuked. This would affect a lot of different ending outcomes and made the game interesting, but of course that is the one default ending. Whether or not the nukes can be launched anywhere is yet to be seen, obviously.

It would be far too awesome if you could wipe out the capitals of the NCR and/or Legion in three possible outcomes (one or both).

If you knew a lot about Van Buren you'd know that New Vegas is full of VB references and content. Arcade Gannon, Hoover Dam and Chinese stealth armors there, Big Empty, Caesar's Legion and a lot more. I also wouldn't expect them to let someone go into the DLC without prior knowledge to such a huge event, as they could be literally anywhere in the course of the game. It'll probably be 2 decisions, one with Ulysses and one without, which saves anybody from being nuked.

If you want to take some leaps of faith, ULYSSES was the original name for the AI Presper used to take control of BOMB 001. Considering the way Ulysses talks about the other factions, it wouldn't be hard to imagine him wanting to wipe the slate clean ala Presper.

I am sure it is, I think what most people are wondering about is the outcome. As someone else stated it sounds like it's possible to stop all of the warheads before any place gets nuked, of course it's also possible that this achievement references all of the warheads that you can actually stop, and that for story purposes some always get through regardless of how efficient you are. Either way I doubt the player will have any say in where the nukes are directed.
